The Last of US II Update Added Permadeath and Grounded Difficulty

The Last of Us part 2 is an action-adventure game developed by naughty dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is released in 2024 exclusively for PlayStation 4. The game can be played by a 3rd person perspective.

The last of us part 2 appears to be adding two new difficulties including permadeath and grounded difficulty and appears to be a significant addition of two more trophies in the trophy list of the game.

Nowadays, games are moving towards a more realistic environment. Now, both the trophies are examples of the more realistic environment being provided to the player. Let’s talk about the meaning of these two effects

Permadeath

Permadeath or permanent death is a simple phrase with quite a simple meaning which is that the player will get only one life chance throughout the whole game. So if you are playing this game and you are about to end the story but somehow u die you will have to play the game again which will be quite annoying for some players but again a realistic environment is never easy. In simple words, if the player dies a single time during the game, he will have to start the game from the beginning. Players will be awarded ‘You can’t stop this’ trophy if they end the game with any permadeath settings.

Grounded Difficulty

Now moving towards grounded mode. When we talk about the grounded mode in the Last of Us, we will get to know about the difficulty of the game in this mode. Grounded mode is just a reference from the Last of Us. Grounded mode triples enemy damage offered to the player. Checkpoints are minimized in this mode. Hud is removed. The supplies become very short and the listening ability is also lost which makes it more difficult. If the player ends the story in the grounded mode he will get a  ‘Dig two graves’ trophy.
